These Shoes Ruin Your Look!

Shoes are a wardrobe item that we fall in love with in the stores and enjoy looking at on our closet shelves, but sometimes they don’t live up to the promise of the elegant look that we thought they’d give us. It can be a tricky situation, as when we are not buying shoes strictly based on comfort, we evaluate the expectations of shoes based on that certain touch we think they will add to our appearance.

If we don’t take a correct decision on this, it can be a problem because how many times have you found yourself going into a shoe store and saying, “please give me shoes that will actually downgrade my outfit”?

Of course, you don’t do this, but when you mix up the emotional feelings you experience when seeing a certain pair of shoes instead of the reality of their appearance and how they can affect the rest of the garments that you might be putting together with them, you can risk ruining an otherwise classy outfit, and make it look rather off…and maybe even a little bit cheap.

The same can also be said of perhaps a more basic and less expensive outfit when a well-chosen pair of shoes can elevate your appearance. I talk about how to properly choose the best shoes that will really enhance your whole look in this video. This has been something that has been highly requested, so I have been listening to you! And this time, I have also posted links to my recommendations to make it easier. I get asked for this so often, hence I am trying to get better at doing this!

Now before we continue any further, I must first say that the right shoes will always add that extra amount of polish to your outfit that the wrong ones just cannot, but it is not to say that you cannot wear any shoes you want for any occasion. Of course, you can, as it is you that ultimately has to be happy with your look. But if it’s the refined look of effortless Modern Elegance TM that you would like to convey as your personal brand, it very much helps, of course, if your whole look gives off the impression that you would like it to.

Just like we ask our friends about how clothing looks when we try it on, you can do the same things with your shoes and your outfit. Many of my private members’ club ladies in The A-List like to post their outfits with shoes to ask the opinion of other like-minded ladies (who will be kind but honest with their opinions!), as the members are as helpful online as when they meet in real life.

It’s helpful to have this kind of support group so if you don’t (or would like to add to yours), click here to be notified of the next time we will be accepting new members for The A-List. If you already have friends with excellent taste in the kind of elegant look that you are trying to achieve, ask them their thoughts. See if they can confirm to you that the shoes you wish to wear help you look your best.

Sometimes the most subtle change in shoes can turn them from completely ruining your look to becoming an outfit’s star supporter, so don’t be afraid to experiment and see which ones work the best for your personal style!
