How To Be Graceful In Three Simple Steps

Before I tell you how to be graceful, I’d like you to take a minute and list in your mind 3-5 women you consider the definition of gracefulness…

…done?

Obviously, I don’t know who’s on your list but I bet some of you added women like Grace Kelly, Kate Middleton, Queen Rania of Jordan, Princess Diana, and Audrey Hepburn. What these women embody and then reflect externally is a specific inner state. You can’t fake being graceful, that’s why in this post I’m going to teach you how to be a graceful woman from the inside out.

What Does It Mean To Be Graceful?

Although grace is difficult to define, if we try to break it down, we’ll see that it’s a combination of:

  1. How you move
  2. How you behave
  3. How you look

In my opinion, gracefulness is most obvious in the way you move. The way you sit, stand, and walk, as well as your posture. If you’ve ever been around a prima ballerina on her day off, you’d still have your breath taken away as she glides past you in jeans and a t-shirt.

Grace has to also be about how you treat others. Are you polite? Considerate? Kind? Warm? Authentic? Are you cool, calm, and collected when dealing with difficult situations?

And, finally, the cherry on top is dressing elegantly. It’s what will bring the oomph to the rest of the mix.

How To Be A Graceful Woman?

If you want to learn how to be more graceful, you’ll need to cultivate the three qualities above, starting with movement.

#1 – Graceful Movement

The great thing here is that there are a lot of resources to help with this. Ballet class is one of the best. Also, salsa and tango are good options. But any feminine dance will do it. Then, you’ll want to combine that with deportment: learning how to sit, stand, and walk in a feminine and graceful way. You can find lots of free video tutorials online.

#2 – Graceful Behavior

For me, I found that working on myself led to me naturally treating others well. When I began to love and accept myself, I became more loving and accepting of others. Therapy is my go-to. But meditation, journaling, and gratitude practices also helped a lot.

You might want to cut bad words out of your vocabulary. This can be challenging for most of us, as we’re so used to using certain slang terms so casually, but it does make a big difference!

#3 – Graceful Appearance

If you’ve been following my work for some time, you know I advocate for dressing in a classic and feminine way. And that’s quite synonymous with having a graceful appearance. Also, it’s imperative that you pay attention to grooming, as you can’t learn how to be graceful and elegant if you’re not on top of your hygiene.

I suggest you learn to perfect a couple of classic hair and make-up looks that you can do quickly on your way out. A chignon or a low bun always look elegant. Subtle make-up and well-manicured nails are musts.

All the above will also add to your confidence. And if there’s one simple answer to the question “what does it mean to be graceful,” it would be that it’s a kind of calm and quiet confidence.
